Viridian Forest, Route 22 and the first badge

  1. Take Pikachu from Oak in Pallet Town, deliver Oak's Parcel from the Viridian Mart, collect the Pokedex.
  2. Detour west onto Route 22. Catch a Mankey (Low Kick at L9) and/or a Nidoran (M) (Double Kick at L12) - Pikachu cannot hurt Brock. Take the optional rival battle here and win it.
  3. Cross Viridian Forest. In Yellow the Weedle line has been removed entirely - only Caterpie remains - and Pidgeotto has been added.
  4. Beat Brock in Pewter City: Geodude L10, Onix L12. Reward: Boulder Badge and TM34 Bide.
  5. Note the Old Amber in the Pewter Museum back room. It sits behind a Cut tree, so come back after the S.S. Anne.
