Erika's team is Grass, and two of the three are Grass/Poison, which means Fire is 2x and Psychic is 2x on the Poison half.
Step 1: Bring the Route 24 Charmander
By now it should be a Charmeleon. Ember and Flamethrower end this gym.
Step 2: Or bring a Kadabra
Abra is on Routes 5 through 8, or 230 coins at the Game Corner. It evolves into Kadabra at L16 and Confusion shreds her Poison-typed Grass team.
Step 3: If you use a bird, use Wing Attack
Gust is a Normal-type move in Generation I. Pidgeotto's Wing Attack is the Flying move you actually want.
Step 4: Watch the status moves
Her team spams Sleep Powder, Stun Spore and PoisonPowder. Reward: Rainbow Badge (Strength usable) and TM21 Mega Drain.
