Fight your rival in Burned Tower and descend to release Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Their route after this scene depends on the selected edition below.

Defeat the five Kimono Girls in the Dance Theater and speak to the spectator for HM03 Surf. Morty's Ghost team peaks at Lv.25 Gengar with Hypnosis, Mean Look, Shadow Ball, and Dream Eater. Normal Pokemon ignore Ghost-type attacks, but bring a non-Normal attack and an Awakening or Mint Berry for Hypnosis.

In Gold and Silver, all three beasts begin roaming Johto after the Burned Tower scene. Damage and status persist between encounters, so weaken them gradually and avoid residual poison damage.
