Generation II Mechanics
Stats, breeding, friendship, time, held items, and the Special split.
What Changed After Generation I
Six stats, two new types, breeding, and the clock
Special is split into Special Attack and Special Defense, which is why every Pokemon page shows six base stats. Dark and Steel join the type chart. Critical-hit chance no longer scales with Speed, and the badge-boost behaviour differs from Generation I.
Pokemon can hold items, friendship drives several evolutions, and the Day-Care on Route 34 can produce Eggs. The real-time clock changes encounters and weekly events. Select Gold, Silver, or Crystal before using the reference pages: shared facts appear for all three, while cartridge-specific facts appear only for the chosen edition.
